Measuring Guide

Measurement tips.

Finding the perfect rug size can be challenging.
We are here to help!

Bedroom

OPTIONS

Both the bed frame and nightstands are positioned entirely on the rug.

The lower 2/3 of the bed is positioned on the rug, while the headboard and nightstands remain on the regular floor.

Only the bottom third of the bed is positioned on the rug, with the majority of the rug visible in the middle of the room.

RULE OF THUMB

The rug should extend around 45-60 cm at the sides and over the foot end of the bed.

This applies to all standard double beds.

"A well-proportioned rug brings balance to a room and contributes to visual harmony."

Dining table

HOW TO MEASURE!

Pull out all chairs as if you were going to sit on them. Then, measure the distance between the back legs of the chairs and add approximately
16cm to the measured value. This is the minimum width. The same rule
applies to measuring the required length.

RULE OF THUMB

The dining room rug should always be at least 75 cm larger on all four sides than the table it is lying under.

Make sure that all four chair legs are always positioned on the rug to ensure a stable and attractive appearance.

Hallway

HOW TO MEASURE!

We can have all of our rugs made to your individual measurements, which is crucial in finding the perfect runner. If you are unsure of the size - mark the area with masking tape to get an idea of the whole.

RULE OF THUMB

A runner should cover the full length of the hallway. When measuring the width, you should leave about 10 cm space on both sides. Basically, the runner should be as long as possible without ever touching the walls.

Kitchen

OPTIONS

In a large, u-shaped kitchen, it makes sense to place a large rig in the center of the room.

If you have a kitchen island, we recommend placing a runner on both long sides of the island that stretch over the full length of the kitchen island. Leave about 10-15 cm space to the cupboards to keep the kitchen floor visible.

Entryway

OUR RECOMMENDATION

If you desire a large rug for your entryway, please consider leaving approx. 40-60 cm of the floor visible on all four sides. Entryways are typically high, traffic areas, so we recommend an Oushak rug with a Turkish knot (double knot) for this area. These rugs have a lower pile and, due to the double knotting technique, are somewhat tighter and therefore more robust.

Living room

OUR RECOMMENDATION

Align your sofa so that either
the two front legs or the entire sofa is positioned on the rug.
